RICCARDO MORTARA
SIPJ
The promoter and shareholder of SIPJ, Riccardo Mortara, is a successful businessman and pilot with more than 18.000 flight hours on wide array of aircraft types which he flew in every corner of the world. He also holds 12 official world records including fastest flight around the globe ( www.sonnig.com, www.360-worldrecord.com).
Riccardo has a Master in Mechanical Engineering obtained at the Polytechnic University of Turin, known as the most demanding University in Italy. He got his pilot licence in 1972 and already in 1974, he had his first aircraft.
While engaged in financial business in Switzerland he used the airplane for his-own transportation. To optimise the usage, he decided to put his first jet in an air-taxi service and rent it when he did not use it for his own needs. This decision led to development and growth of one of the most exclusive private jet companies at the continent.
Growing concern about market conditions in Europe motivated Riccardo to turn towards fast growing and better shaped markets in Middle East and Africa where he, once again, showed his sensibility and deep understanding of the business, being one of the pioneers in developing business infrastructure secondary markets in the region. Sonnig International Private Jets (SIPJ) is today totally independent from it’s European roots and is successfully growing organisation, well respected by local authorities, financial institutions and regional business aviation industry.
